When you start off on a new business venture your budget is low and you’re hanging onto your pennies. The most important thing at that point is to get your brand and your company’s products out there. Most people underestimate the influence and effectiveness cheap marketing ideas can have. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to get the results you want. We sat down to gather ten random marketing ideas for any young company out there that’s having an inspirational block. Be warned, some are daring and very unconventional but it’s for you to decide, which ones you want to choose.
Fish Bowl Business Card
Put your business cards in the “fish” bowls that can often be seen in pubs – the more the better.
Word of Mouth
One of the most effective and free ways to market your products or brand. Don’t ever underestimate the power of the word.
If you’re a small company, get t-shirts made and wear them whenever you’re going to walk around town.
Get someone to or shave your company’s logo on their or your own head. Something that will definitely get your noticed if you dare to.
Post it Notes
Something random and unconventional. A good combination showing you’re innovative and willing to take a risk. Little post it notes across town will definitely draw attention. A plus is they’re so cheap and bright yellow. Make sure you do it during good weather!
You can get masses for almost nothing. It’s up to you how you want to hand them out (do not stick them on cars etc though!)
Website Visit Invites
Make some personalised cards and send them to possible clients.
Set up a random competition where the main aim is to sell the competition not your business. It’s fun and unusual and will generate interest in your company in a round-about way. Try this one on for size (Show Us Your PoLR Mask)
Who doesn’t love free coffee (apart from those that don’t drink it). Do something like standing in front of a coffee shop and offering to buy them a coffee if they distribute 10 business cards. After 5 people, your business cards could reach 50 and all for about a tenner.
Free stuff is always welcomed by everyone. So do it. Give away some branded free sweets, mints, ice creams. On a hot day spend a tenner on cheap ice poles and hand them out with a business card – you never know where that business card may land!
