This diamond of the week is part rant and part ‘bigging up’ a website. Well, to be more honest, it was inspired by a rant so probably best I get that out of the way pronto…
I’m not from Glasgow and when I need a plumber, a joiner or a gardener my option is word of mouth or pot luck. The other day my roof decided to chuck a wobbly and I started to scout around for a roofer. First up was word of mouth which resulted in 3 fruitless days stuck in the house and one roofer ‘forgetting’ to come back. After giving up I turned to my old friend Google and found a site that proved to be a life (or wall) saver. Leading me to the ‘bigging up’ a website part.
The website I found is ratedpeople.com. As a user you submit a job with details, budget, location etc and await the phonecalls. Now, there’s nothing new here, we have even used something similar for design jobs, what impressed me was the ease of use and the speed of the response. Within half an hour of posting my job I was signed up, verified and had someone on their way to do the job.
It’s a great website and works like a dream. In our e-commerce survey, we found that a huge percentage of website users would search out customer reviews before purchasing and ratedpeople.com lets a user do just that.
