As Proud Winners of BT Scotland: Most Environmentally Responsible Business 2009 PoLR acknowledges that it has a responsibility to the environment. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually monitor and review our environmental performance and policies. We will encourage customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to do the same.
Aims PoLR endeavour to:
- Continually improve and monitor environmental performance.
- Utilise local suppliers where possible.
- Incorporate environmental factors into business decisions.
- Increase employee awareness and training.
- Involve staff in the implementation of this policy, for greater commitment.
- Update this policy at least annually in consultation with staff where necessary.
We strive to:
- Use environmentally friendly hosting for all PoLR hosting clients and the PoLR website.
- Minimise the use of paper in the office – sending proposals etc. electronically.
- Reuse and recycle where possible (paper, plastic, cans, glass, printer cartridges)
- Reduce non recyclable waste by 50% by December 2011.
- Buy recycled and recyclable paper products where possible.
- Switch off lights and electrical equipment (monitors etc.) when not in use.
- Seek to buy more environmentally friendly and efficient products.
- Promote the use of travel alternatives such as e-mail or video/phone conferencing.
- Use public transport for meetings.
- Use cleaning materials that are environmentally friendly.
