case study: redesigning an existing website

Case study - Scottish School of Herbal Medicine

The brief from the Scottish School of herbal Medicine was for us to transform their website by bringing it more up-to-date and taking on board the aspects that they felt weren't working or were absent from the old website.

The main points were that the old website was a bit text-heavy, the images were a bit small, the homepage wasn't giving out the most important information straight away and that they wanted to increase the calls-to-action on the website and generally make it more friendly to the end user.

Our thoughts were that we could definately come up with a fresh new approach to the website's look and feel and organise the navigation as such that the users can come onto the website and immediately know where to go and get there in an efficient manner.

A student portal was integrated to allow the School to publish student-only data and create a central hub for calss information, past papers etc.

We also built the site integrating a robust Content Management System (CMS) to allow the Scottish School of Herbal Medicine to update the website as often and regularly as they like with very easy-to-use software. This has proved the best solution in the long term for our client and allows them full control of the content of the website from now on.

What the client said...

"We were first attracted to PoLR as they were a small local company who shared similar values to our own company and offered a realistic quote.

From the outset, we had a very postive relationship with PoLR, with initial meetings to discuss our specific requirements and many helpful suggestions from them additionally. Throughout the design process they have been excellent in communicating promtly and with as much information as we needed, explained to us in a way we could understand easily.

PoLR have kept us in the loop at every stage of the process and have been helpful and friendly along the way, answering many questions and going above and beyond the call of duty in several instances.

We are delighted with the final outcome and hope to continue our relationship with PoLR in the future. Thank you!"
