What’s Changed? Facebook Timeline Features

February 2nd, 2012

The new timeline interface for Facebook has been received with mixed reviews as these kind of changes usually are it’s been met with a mixture of both discourse, curiosity and dislike. Many have speculated what the motivation behind the scenes at Facebook HQ could have been with many citing increased competition from Google + and changes to Twitter as the main catalyst. Although, Facebook is by no means being overtaken in it’s social media domination as the big player with over 800 million active users I can’t see that happening any time soon. Read more…

June 1st, 2011

“would you like to go to Manchester for the Ecommerce Expo on Thursday Lisa?”

“Would I? Em yeah…!”

“Great the train to Preston leaves Glasgow Central at 5.40am.”

“eekk!”

Brilliant my first company trip away to an interesting and exciting sounding exhibition in Old Trafford football stadium no less; I was very excited. Even the thought of getting up at 4am and getting home at midnight couldn’t deter me…no way. I was a little apprehensive of how the world looked at that time of the morning. Would I be able to function normally? Would I be able to speak? Just about was the answer to those two questions! So off Calum and I sped on the 5.40 train from Central full of anticipation with the amount of new knowledge we were going to came back with and have at our disposal when the time came for dazzling with our E commerce know how. Advertising on the Net – The ASA’s New Powers & SEO

February 14th, 2011

I woke on Sat morning to news on the radio that from the 1st March the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) will be giving Internet users the ability to complain about advertising on commercial websites.

The ASA will be able to react to anything on a commercial website or indeed any space that is under the companies control (including Facebook, Twitter etc) that is deemed to be marketing.

“From March 1st, the ASA’s online remit will be extended to cover marketing communications on organisations’ own websites and in other non-paid-for space under their control.”

So for example, if a company claims on their website that they will guarantee you a No. 1 position in Google (which can’t be done – No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google) then the ASA will be able to challenge that claim. Exciting times I feel. Read more…

“CAN’T WAIT FOR MY NEW RANGE ROVER..!!!”

Seriously I’m the same we all are aren’t we can’t wait to drive our new ‘rangeys’ as us in the know call them.

“Lisa…..? Wake up you’ve got a blog post to write!”

Back to reality, my previous reference comes from UK fashion designers Henry Holland’s Twitter as he may or may not have been though probably was given a Range Rover to drive and tweet about. Which when talking to the Mail on Sunday Range Rover confirmed that this was the case. Read more…

Is seeing into the future a blessing or a curse?

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover, never a truer word was said but we all do it don’t we. For instance take any slightly superficial decision you may have taken recently has your reasoning to the outcome ever been, “well I just liked the look of it.” It has hasn’t it. Even more extreme your likening of the external properties of one thing may have swayed you to choose it even though you knew the other option was the better slightly less pretty one. A shallow bunch we all are *sweeping statement alert, fetch pinch of salt… Read more…
