Google adds more options tab

As well as restoring the shopping tab to the main options bar on Google they have also added a show options link at the top of search results. It has some pretty cool features. You can choose to sift through videos, forums and reviews as well as time based results. There is also a pretty nifty search option called the wonder wheel.

The end of the advertising free ride?

Advertisers have been paying for and subsidising our media for years. Television ads pay for our tv and radio (apart from the draconian BBC) and magazines and newspapers cost less because of the adverts within. I know where you live…(said in menacing voice)

There’s been one heck of a lot of hype today about the introduction of Google Street View to the UK. At present you can see 24 cities at street level via this innovative (if not addictive) 360 degree view.

Rather than be yet another blog post that goes into detail about what Street View does or what it’s good for we thought we would go over to the Dark Side and think about how technology is making it easier and easier to become a fully-fledged busybody! Read more…

I’m an April Fool for you.

In a little over a fortnight it is April the 1st. The one day where you’re allowed to be a child again, when you can swap the sugar with the salt in the staff canteen. It’s also the day when marketing companies and departments embrace the viral power of the media to promote their brand!

Social Networking in the Afterlife!

We ran an interview on Monday with Tzafrir Rehan who developed the Next of Kin plugin for WordPress. As a spooky coincidence, on Tuesday this week a new service was announced along the same veins but open for everyone (not just WordPress users).

It’s called Legacy Locker and allows you to store passwords for all your online accounts with the idea that they will be released on your death to a person of your choosing.  Read more…
