Did Kellogs continue advertising in this recession?

To <!–more–> or not to <!–more–>

Using the <!–more–> tag in blog posts has become second nature to me but as it’s second nature it’s also something that I realised I no longer questioned and to be honest, can’t remember if I did back in the day when I wrote my first blog post! So when I published a post the other day and forgot the <!–more–> it got me thinking about why I use it.

When I started thinking about it I went to a the blogs I’m subscribed to as I wanted to see how they did it. I noticed the SEO companies all used the <!–more–> tag while it was a 50/50 split with the non-seo focused companies.

Social Media #Fails and how to #React!

FailThere have been many examples of social media antics that have brought companies reputations into the firing line and very recently there was yet another clanger (more about that in a minute). In this case it was slightly different from the ‘Facebook slaggings’ that have previously caused issues for employers (think of Virgin Atlantic staff who called customers “chavs” (amongst other things) or the Argos employee who was sacked for commenting on his Facebook), in this case it was a legitimate account and acknowledged by the company to have come from an employee.

An early spring clean for PoLR

We’re always telling clients that they need to keep on top of their websites and refresh them on a regular basis to react to user behaviours (that they will have gleaned from Analytics etc). Because of this we don’t rest on our laurels and like to give our own site a regular spring clean.

Why is Google making a deal with Twitter?

twitter-gogole-logoIt’s been building for some time and last week Google announced that it had a struck a deal with Twitter to incorporate its tweets into its search results. If you’re not familiar (and even if you are) with twitter you may be wondering why Google would be so interested in accessing twitters data and all of the little posts of text that we add every day. There are two reasons. The first is up to date relevant answers to search queries. The second is, the competition.
