We have decided to start a fun Friday afternoon blog. Each Friday we will be asking on Twitter for someone to suggest a random word (Random of the Week – RotW). Ryan, Calum and Myself will then write a paragraph using that word and relate it (someway) back to the world of the Interwebby.
If you would like to join in and suggest a word for next Friday then follow us at @PoLRweb.
Today’s random word was suggested by Gary Ennis of @nsdesign and he suggested ‘Utensil’. Of course now I’m wondering why he chose that particular one! Anyway, so you can see we’re not just making up words that are easy and suit us, look below at the screenshot. Read more…

SEO and Internet Marketing, social networking
I spend a lot of time going to different networking events in Glasgow and the surrounding area. In PoLR I tend to carry out all the offline networking while Lynne and Calum take care of the online side. I find it useful, beneficial and worthwhile. I also enjoy the face to face contact that you get at these events. Much as I appreciate the value of online networking, I really do enjoy putting faces to names and having a good chin-wag with potential contacts and customers. Read more…

I hate to begin a post with this phrase but needs must and all that so here goes and I apologise in advance…
Eeee, when I were a lass, there was no such thing as a t’internet let alone a computer (or two, or four) in every house. When you log in to your social profile do you feel like you’ve walked into a cosy friends house or a crowded market place. I logged in to my myspace account today after being in my facebook account to be met with the usual barrage of ads and I got to thinking. The abundance of adverts on show on the inside of a myspace account and the “get to know a celebrity” focus that they now have leaves me feeling like i’m in the middle of a busy town faced with too many sandwich boards between me and people that I know.
The user experience on myspace has been wrestled away from communicating with friends to finding your way through ads to get to your friends. Read more…

First and foremost – what is viral marketing?
Viral marketing referrs to the online marketing of your brand or product through repetitive exposure to an advert, promotion etc via social networks. Your viral campaign can take the form of a Flash game, competition, video…basically anything that has gimmicky appeal to your target demographic and will (hopefully) spread like the flu. Read more…

Facebook began rolling out its new updated version on Thursday and today it has finally reached my profile. What struck me immediately was the similarities it now has to Twitter, the second thing that hit me was that despite saying for long enough that ‘I don’t get Twitter’, I realised I have actually been using Facebook as if it were Twitter for years.
