It’s that Twestival time of year again.

Last September a group of Twitter users got together in 130 cities for a Twestival. In the process they raised over $450k for 135 charities (£3675 from Glasgow) – Not bad for a night of partying and putting faces to Twitter avatars!
This March (the 25th to be precise) sees another Twestival in Glasgow (GTwestival). This year we will be raising money for Concern Worldwide who provide access to education for some of the world’s poorest children. So, save the date and get ready to buy your ticket very, very shortly!
It’s been building for some time and last week Google announced that it had a struck a deal with Twitter to incorporate its tweets into its search results. If you’re not familiar (and even if you are) with twitter you may be wondering why Google would be so interested in accessing twitters data and all of the little posts of text that we add every day. There are two reasons. The first is up to date relevant answers to search queries. The second is, the competition.
Facebook began rolling out its new updated version on Thursday and today it has finally reached my profile. What struck me immediately was the similarities it now has to Twitter, the second thing that hit me was that despite saying for long enough that ‘I don’t get Twitter’, I realised I have actually been using Facebook as if it were Twitter for years.
We like a nice friendly debate at PoLR and recently we have been discussing our thoughts on Twitter. For those of you who have been avoiding social networking let me first (briefly) explain what Twitter is. It’s an online outlet that lets you update your current status (or tweets) and follow other people under the guise of letting you stay connected…
