How to get the most from your design meeting

March 27th, 2009

We’ve recently added a post about ‘10 (more) questions to ask your web designer‘ aimed at helping you get the most out of a meeting with a potential web designer. Following on from that we have decided to write a post to give you tips on getting the most out of your initial design interview (once you have signed up to a website design).

We always ask that a client meets with us to discuss requirements, their likes and dislikes and to talk over expectations.

A face to face meeting like this is the most productive way to make progress with a design and to hit the nail on the head as early as possible.

After years of these design meetings we descided to put together the following tips so you have an idea of what to expect.

10 (more) Questions to ask your potential web designer

February 25th, 2009

questions for web developerWay back in March 2007 I sat down one evening and wrote an article entitled 10 Questions To Ask Your Prospective Web Designer. It was aimed at helping potential clients who were looking for a website but weren’t sure where to start or what to ask first. The ’10 Questions’ post was a great success for me so I have decided to build on it and add another 10 questions that should be considered. So here goes: Read more…

SEO and what you should know.

August 18th, 2008

I wrote an article a year ago on what you should be asking your web developer. It became quite a popular post so I have decided to follow it up with another guide on what you should be looking for in a Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) company.

With so many companies out there how do you know you are getting someone you can trust, how can you be sure of their history and that they are not a ‘bunch of cowboys’ – to quote one of our clients on their previous web design company!

So how do you choose a good, honest and ethical SEO company and what should you be looking out for? Read more…

Sime Motorsport and Engineering

April 17th, 2008

A little about Sime Racing
Sime Racing & Engineering and SRE Motorsport founders and Directors; Barry & Jimmy Sime have collectively well over 50 years experience in the Motor Sport Industry. Offering motorsport management, preparation and hospitality services.

The challenge:
The brief was to provide Sime Racing with a website revamp to give the current site a facelift and bring it in line with current accessibility requirements. Barry required a site that was clean and fresh that diplayed information as clearly as possible. He also required an updatable part to the site that would let him upload news and reviews form the motorsport field, for this PoLR added in a blog and RSS feeds from the BBC Sport.

What Sime Racing say about PoLR:
“We were looking for a fresh new look for our website to embrace and were extremely delighted to deal with the team at PoLR. When too many companies today in general seem happy to go through the motions, PoLR were very pro active and brought some expanded ideas to the table to complement our own. Their attention to detail and can-do attitude mirrors the values we work to as a company, which for us is extremely important in the motorsport and hospitality industries. We look forward to working with them throughout the year and beyond.”

“PoLR are a relatively new company, however were formed by a team of motivated and talented individuals who already have considerable experience working in the design and web business.”

What Amivox say about us
At Amivox we decided, three weeks before Christmas, to open our first web site before the festivities. PoLR’s enthusiasm for our project and their “can make it” culture convinced us that they would be the right partner for us. Their work was timely, on budget and of great quality. We can’t wait to expand our web presence by the hand of PoLR.
