In the SEO world a link is what makes the world go round. A web site is a collection of sites all hyper linked together and the internet is made possible due to sites linking to each other. With Googles search engine becoming the dominant one it’s approach to links as votes has made the hyper link a sought after commodity. With the increasing use of CMS software, blogging services and social media it’s not only webmasters who have the power to link out. If you are using the html option on a CMS system here is how to create an html link.

When we break it down there are four main components to a link.

The A href tag
This A tag is what tells the browser that the following text or image is to link to a certain web address. It has an opening and closing section.

The web site address
This is where you put the address that you want your link to go to.

The title of the link
This gives the user more information about the link and will display when the mouse is hovered over the anchor text.

The anchor text of the link
This is the clickable part of the link which is displayed in the link above. The anchor text of a link helps search engines to determine what the link is about.
