Twittering for charity – GTwestival

GtewstivalOn the 10th September Tweegies will be descending on the Living Room. The Living Room in Glasgow that is and not my front room.

The Glasgow Twestival (GTwestival) is an event that will be taking place to raise money for an as yet undetermined, local-to-Glasgow, charity.

The Twestival is (oddly enough) majorly promoted through Twitter and driven by volunteers which allows 100% of profits to go to the charity of choice. So far AnyColourBlack and Clyde 1′s Colin Kelly are among the participants along with many other volunteers doing everything from lighting to marketing to design (which brings me nicely onto the next point).

Logo – We gave him the hat

When we saw on Twitter that Ross @ThirdSectorLab was asking for a volunteer designer to help out with the Tweegies logo we jumped at the chance.

After ‘humming and aaing’ over a few designs we though ‘what says Glasgow without using the SECC (or a bottle of Buckie ;-) )?’ To PoLR it was the statue outside GOMA with the permanant cone addition. We afforded the same addition to the original Twestival logo and the version above was chosen from the GTwestival team.

Charities

Last year the Twestival raised $250k for the Charity:Water. This year the voting closes on the 31st July and charities in the running include Alzheimer Scotland, Quarriers and Macmillan Cancer Support so why not cast your vote today (is it wrong to subliminally try to say ‘Alzheimer Scotland, Alzheimer Scotland, Alzheimer Scotland‘? Oops, too late…)

Tickets

The first 100 GTwestival tickets are available at £7.00 (after which they increase to £10.00) so get in there early and use the £3 you’re saving to purchase some raffle tickets instead!
